Ruth L. — likes looking at the world the other way up

Ruth has lived in Santanyí for thirteen years, with her husband, three children, a dog and a cat. She loves sport in almost every form, best of all with a racket and a ball, and about herself she writes the sentence that explains her pictures: she also likes standing on her head and looking at the world the other way up. If a shoot needs someone who doesn't have to practise a headstand, a cartwheel or the splits first, she is the one.

On court she plays tennis, table tennis and padel; in the water she does somersaults forwards and backwards. Add swimming, skiing, surfing, yoga, running and dance, and there is rarely anything in a movement, beach or outdoor brief she would need to rehearse — which shows in the frames. She works in German, English and Spanish. When nothing is booked she is in the garden or off in the camper van.

Ruth can also be booked together with her daughter Ida (13). As with every child at our agency, Ida never stands in front of a camera alone, always alongside a parent — and for mother-and-daughter imagery that is the constellation that carries anyway.
